Robert E. "Bob" Haynes

June 10, 1930 - March 10, 2022

Robert “Bob” Estes Haynes, age 91, of Richlands, VA passed away on March 10, 2022, after a long and well-fought battle with congestive heart failure. Bob was born on June 10, 1930 to the late Luther Haynes and Ethel Beatty Haynes in Stearns, KY. After graduating from Stearns High School, he went into the United States Marine Corps, and then would later go on to study business at Bryant Stratton Business College in Louisville, KY. After relocating to Richlands, VA, he met and married Delores “Dotty” Joyce and they had three children, Kim, Joyce, and Meredith York. After retiring from the coal industry, Bob enjoyed spending his free time, golfing, spending time with family and friends, and expressing his vast talents through his many innovative projects. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Dotty, a brother Eugene Haynes, and a sister Betty Haynes Bechtel. Bob is survived by: Three daughters: Kim Farmer and husband, Roger of Richlands, VA, Joyce Haynes of Richlands, VA Meredith York Gilbert and husband, Jason of Pounding Mill, VA, One Brother, William D. Haynes, and wife, Mada of Fort Wayne, IN. Sister-in-law, Carol Joyce Hogston of Cedar Bluff, VA, Brother-in-law, Bill Ray Joyce and wife, Naomi of Gray, TN. Grandchildren: Julie Farmer of Myrtle Beach, SC, Elliott Hughes Hess of Charleston, WV Paxton Casey of Richlands, VA. Great-grandchildren: Kele Nova, Christian, Dylan, and Bleu A host of extended family and friends also survive. A graveside service for Robert “Bob” Estes Haynes will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum #4, in Claypool Hill VA, with Rev. Danny Altizer officiating, Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW post 9640 will conduct graveside rites. Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, anyone wishing to attend the graveside service is asked to meet at Mausoleum #4 prior to the service.
