Prophet Robert Crockett Smith

March 9, 1952 - March 12, 2022

Prophet Robert Crockett Smith, Sr., age 70, of Tazewell, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at New River Valley Medical Center in Radford, VA. Born on March 9, 1952 in Tazewell, Virginia to the late Beverly Smith and Alice Smith. He graduated Tazewell High School in 1970 where he was active in sports including football, track, basketball and also Band. He was a truck driver for Acme Markets. He was raised in the Midway Church of Christ in Tazewell, VA. He later became a member of Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle in Baptist Valley, VA, where he went into ministry. Prophet Smith received his Certificate of Ordination as a Prophet from Life More Abundant Covenant Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Donnie Hairston. He was very dedicated to the Lord. He always took his shoes off before entering into the pulpit to minister. He loved playing his guitar and singing for the Lord. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan and he loved his children and grandchildren very much, but none of that came before God. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Jean (Jeannie) Harris; brothers, Alvin (Jerry) Smith, William (Stink) Smith; and granddaughter; Mary Jayne Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 16 years, Elder Gloria J. Smith 6 children; Stephen Jones (Hattie), Robert C Smith, Jr., Angela Taylor (LaNeal), Ashanta Smith David Jones (Helen), Martin Jones, and Goddaughter Betsy Hargrave. Three sisters: Charlotte Thompson (Ronnie); Equilla Green and Diane Craig. Mother-in-law, Earnestine Johnson of Sandersville, GA; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law. Special mother in the Lord, Sammie Poteet; special friend, Terry Ward; Two special sons: Minister Rommell Hargrave and Deacon Patrick Keeter. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive. The Going Home service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, with the Elder Gloria Smith and Apostle Anderson Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Virginia. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 12:00pm until time of service.
