Virginia Grey Jones

Virginia Grey Jones, age 84 of War, WV died Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at her home. She was born July 2, 1935 at Welch, WV and was a daughter of the late Tracy and Sarah Perkins Huffman. Mrs. Jones was a retired cafeteria cook, having worked for the McDowell County Public School System for many years. She was of the Christian faith and attended the Berwind Revival Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Huffman, Jimmy Huffman, Johnny Huffman and Steve Huffman; five sisters, Hazel Watkins, Nadine Justice, Josephine Robinson, Laverne “Tootie” Brinkley and an infant sister, Kathy Huffman. Those who survive to cherish her memory include four children, James “Jimmy” Jones, Jr. and wife, Linda, William “Bill” Jones and Donna Muncy and husband, Buddy, all of War, WV and Timmy Jones and wife, Lettia of Bedford, VA; one brother, Danny Joe Huffman of Warrior Mines, WV; six grandchildren, James E. Jones, III. and wife, Jessica of Roanoke, VA, Christopher Jones and wife, Missy of War, WV, Angela Rose of Lincolnton, NC, Becky Jones of Bedford, VA, Greg Jones and wife, Ashley of Bartley, WV and Beth Bowen and husband, Donald of Bluefield, WV; fourteen great-grandchildren, Lenea Bolen and husband, Roger of War, WV, Alex Jones and Jacob Jones of Roanoke, VA, Chris Jones of War, WV, Isabella Jones of War, WV, Alexis Burks, Haley Burks and Breanna Burks, all of Bedford, VA, Dylan Jones, Brooklyn Jones and Ethan Jones, all of Bartley, WV, Teddy Mounts, Damien Bowen and Gwendolyn Bowen, all of Bluefield, VA; estranged husband, Charles “Buddy” Beavers of SC; a host of nieces; nephews; other family members and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Jones will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 at the Independent Church of the Living God in War, WV with the Rev. Melvin Muncy and the Rev. Sheila Muncy officiating. Burial will follow at the Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, WV. Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Independent Church of the Living God from 6 – 9 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019.
