William Alfred "Bill" Breeding

April 8, 1923 - February 4, 2022

William Alfred “Bill” Breeding, age 98, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, drew his final breath here on earth on Friday, February 4, 2022. Bill was born April 8, 1923, in McDowell County, West Virginia and was the son of the late Isom Breeding and Rebecca Wimmer Breeding. Dad was a simple and humble man. He was born and raised to think and believe hard work was a way of life. His work of 35 plus years in underground and surface coal mines was a true testament of that. Some were before mechanization became a part of small coal mines. It was handloading and ponies. Logging supplemented in between. His work and dedication to his work formed lasting bonds. His love for watching things grow was always with him. He once said a field of corn swaying in the breeze must look like the sea, which he never seen. His passion for the outdoors and nature skills has been passed on to his family who will be following his steps. Yes, our circle has been broken but as we are called one by one the circle will be complete again. In addition to his parents, he was greeted in heaven by his loving wife, Goldie Ann Cole Breeding; his sons-in- law, John Osborne, and Christopher Mack Horton; sister, Pearl Day; brothers, Johnny, Roy, Estil, Gene and Therl. Those that remain to carry on his spirit are his: Daughters: Shirley Horton of Richlands, VA Brenda Vestal and husband, Kenneth of Oakwood, VA Darlene Osborne of Raven, VA Sons: Curtis Breeding and wife Myra of Richlands, VA Ronnie Breeding and wife Lynn of Tazewell, VA Jimmy Breeding and wife Carol of Keen Mtn., VA Donnie Breeding and wife Leshia of Hurley, VA Brothers: Jack Breeden and wife Eunice of Richlands, VA Glen Breeden and wife, Rita of Orlando, FL Sister, Flora Lawson of Richlands, VA 11 grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild also survive along with a host of family and friends. Precious lord bless this food and the hands that prepared it and may it be nourishment to our bodies. Watch over my young’uns and keep them safe and all that are sick and afflicted. Touch my body and help me oh lord. In Jesus name Amen The funeral service for William Alfred “Bill” Breeding will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Dennis White and Rev. David Horton officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Brannon Breeding, Charlton Breeding, Willie Breeding, James Breeding, Jason Breeding, Tommy Vestal, Marshall Osborne, and Samuel Hayden. Honorary pallbearers will be: Granddaughters: Jodi Osborne, Robin Horton, Christine Hayden, and Kristie Leonard; great grandchildren, and Brian McGraw, Shawn Hagy, Kenny and Susan Lowe. The family will receive friends at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, on Sunday evening beginning at 6:00 pm. Friends and family are asked to always wear facial coverings.
