Albert W. "Bill" White

Albert W. (Bill) White, age 94, passed on to his eternal life in Heaven on Thursday, May 7, 2026, following a lengthy illness. Bill was the son of the late Thomas W. White and Nannie Whited White, formerly of Red Ash, Virginia. He was born on May 24, 1931, in Red Ash, Virginia. Bill was the retired manager for the Roanoke District, United Insurance Company. He was a member of the Community Heights Baptist Church and attended Rosedale Baptist Church, where he loved to play his guitar and sing. Bill was very talented; he was gifted with the ability to play the guitar, banjo, and fiddle, and he enjoyed singing his whole life. He was a recipient of the Tazewell County Fiddlers Convention “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2010. Bill was well known for his humor; he was always a prankster and jokester and was dearly loved by his family. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family, having two brothers, Henry White and Bailey White, and eight sisters, Naomi Bales, Dorothy Vance, Lorraine Bales, Opal Coleman, Helen Lyons, June McCoy, Jean Longworth, and Joan Umble, who predecease him along with his parents, and his loving wife of 73 years, Betty Sue Wells White, his granddaughter Amber White Schlobohm and great-granddaughter, Maddie Schlobohm. Bill is survived by his: Daughters: Connie Brown and her husband, Charlie, of Abingdon, VA Jennifer Brown and her husband, Pat, of Cedar Bluff, VA Son, Joe White, and his wife, Ann, of Max Meadows, VA. Granddaughter, Rachel Brown Riley, and her husband, Wes of Chilhowie, VA. Great-grandchildren, Amelia Schlobohm of Kingsport, TN, and Kaiser Schlobohm of Blountville, TN. A host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive him. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donatetoday A Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia, with Rev. Alan Jessee officiating. Interment will be private on Monday at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Virginia. The family will receive friends beginning on Sunday, at 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
