Alfred David "Dave" Jessee

Alfred David “Dave” Jessee, age 86, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Tazewell, Virginia. He was born at Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the son of the late Lee Porter and Nora Chaffin Jessee. Dave had made his home in the Richlands, Virginia area most of his life and was retired from General Shale Brick having worked 27 years at the Richlands plant and 10 years at the Marion plant. He was a Richlands High School Class of 1951 graduate and was a U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran. Dave never met a stranger and always let everyone know he grew up at Jewell Ridge and how blessed he was to have that privilege. He loved his family and enjoyed playing golf, pin pong, and basketball. He volunteered as a Little League Baseball coach for years and was an active volunteer for the Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Richlands. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah Nester, Eleanor Edwards, and Phyllis Clifton; and one brother, Bill Jessee. Survivors are: His wife and sweetheart of 62 years: Bettie C. Jessee Two Sons: Stephen Jessee and wife, Martha of Richlands, Virginia Jeffrey Jessee and wife, Martha of Pounding Mill, Virginia One Sister: Gwen Cook and husband, Dwayne of Bristol, Virginia Brother in Law: Marvin Nester of Lakeland, FL Three Grandchildren: David Jessee of Richmond, Virginia; Matthew Jessee and wife, Kristen of Rosedale, VA; and Marcus Jessee and wife, Kristen of Oakdale, PA Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Special thanks to: CVMC, Preferred Home Health, Legacy Hospice, Dogwood Crossing Asst. Living and Memory Center, and caregivers: Barbara Baxter, Judy Stillwell, Wilma Young, and Ingrid Clem. Funeral services for Dave Jessee will be conducted Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 1pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Betzy Elifrits Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Tommy Nester, Bobby Edwards, Jason Jessee, Chris Mullen, Frank Hess, and Clea Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Good Samaritan Food Pantry Staff and Volunteers; Men of the First United Methodist Church; Dr. Joseph Claustro; Dr. LZ Claustro; and Friday Night Bellacino’s Fun Time Friends.
