Apostle Donnie M. Hairston, age 71 of North Tazewell, VA passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 in McDowell County, WV. He was born December 13, 1949 in McDowell County, WV. He was a graduate of Northfork High School and had worked most of his life as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed building, repairing and enjoyed being around people. He was Pastor of the First Baptist Church in the Carline community of Tazewell, VA. He was a spiritual caregiver and was a mentor to many people. He is preceded in death by one brother, William Crawley. Those who survive to celebrate his life include his loving wife, Shirley E. Hairston; children, Tonesha Anderson and husband, Maurice of Colorado, Selina McDonald of Columbus, OH, Shay Carpenter and fiancé, Aron Richard of Michigan, Anita Hairston, Dawn Hairston, Dominique Hendricks and husband, Woody all of Clarksburg, WV, Donnie Hairston, Jr. and wife, Sarah of North Carolina; bonus children, Tierra Mills and Malik Mills, both of Columbus, OH; three sisters, Audrey Hairston of Keystone, WV, Janet Green and husband, Pastor James Green of North Carolina and Sharon Hairston of Wheeling, WV; two brothers, Paul Jones and wife, Alohalani of Maryland and Damon Hairston of Germany; fifteen grandchildren; twenty - great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; his Church family; many other family members and friends also survive. A Funeral Service commemorating the life and ministry of Apostle Hairston will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with Evangelist Carolyn Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. Flower-Bearers will be the young ladies of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
