Audrey Maxine Short Whitt

Audrey Maxine Short Whitt, age 85 of Swords Creek, Virginia went home to be with the lord on December 3, 2015at the Commonwealth Assisted Living facility in Claypool Hill, Virginia following a lengthy illness. She was born in Raven, Virginia and was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Short and Millie Beavers Short, former Raven natives. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Maxine was a 1948 graduate of Richlands High School and had worked for 37 years in the Medical Business offices for Mattie Williams Hospital and Washington Square Clinic. She had attended the Clearview Methodist Church and was a lifetime resident of the area. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A family reunion was held in heaven when she was greeted at the pearly gates by her parents, her loving husband, George Harold Whitt; son, Ronald Keith Whitt; daughter-in-law, Sandy Whitt; sisters, Helen Bowman, Frances Whittaker, Lucille Nichols, Doris Hadden, brothers, Harold Short, Ralph Short and special friend, Goldie Whitt. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Daughter, Angie Hale of Bristol, VA Sons: Bill Whitt and wife Donna of Honaker, VA Doug Whitt of Swords Creek, VA Special friend through her life, Shirley Herndon Grandchildren, Adam Whitt, Brett Whitt, Brittany Castle, Jordan Whitt and Matthew Hale. Step-grandchildren, Chad Whited and Bethany Godsey Three great grandchildren, Gavin Whitt, Maggie Kay Whitt and Kaden Castle Four step great grandchildren, Ali Godsey, Lexi Godsey, Kylie Godsey and Peyton Godsey Special Buddy, Luke Helton Special caregivers, Helping Hands, Home Health Hospice and the employees of Commonwealth Assisted Living. The funeral service for Audrey Maxine Short Whitt will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White and Rev. Paul Griffith officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be, Adam Whitt, Brett Whitt, Jordan Whitt, Matthew Hale, David Dye, Gavin Whitt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Harmon, Brian Wright, Tom Harmon, Marty Short, Sam Short, Kenny Castle and Jason Godsey.
