Brother Meadows

Bro. Roy "Gabby" Meadows, Sr age 81 of North Tazewell, Virginia went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 18, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Coldan, Virginia and was the son of the late Robert E. and Ruthi Griffith Meadows. He was a retired Coal miner and was a Minister for 34 years at the Middle Creek Advent Christian Church. He was a member of the UMWA Local # 7327 of Jewell Valley Virginia and was a life time resident of the area. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ermil T. and Arnold B. Meadows, his sister Mary Pruitt, one son, Lonnie Ray Meadows and a son-in-law Elmer Lee Brown Those who remain to carry on his spirit are: Loving wife Dorothy Kinder Meadows of North Tazewell, Virginia Sons: Roy Herbert Meadows, Jr. and wife Shelia of Horton Ridge, Virginia Gregory David Meadows and wife Tracy of Jewell Ridge Virginia Donnie Wade Meadows and wife Linda of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Daughters, Kathy Meadows Brown of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Geraldine Meadows Sparks and husband Randy of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Donna Meadows McClanahan and husband Tony of Tazewell, Virginia Sisters: Emily Street and husband Dillo of Pounding Mill, Virginia Ruth Strouth of Big Creek, Virginia Brother, James Meadows of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Special Friend and step-daughter: Shelby Girard of Roanoke, Virginia Also surviving him are 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services for Bro. Roy "Gabby" Meadows will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Don Elswick and Rev. Adam Frye officiating. Interment will follow at the Fox Memorial Cemetery at Reynolds Ridge near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Jonathan Brown, Nathan Brown, Randy Sparks, Jr., J.D. Sparks, Bradley Meadows, Derrick Lawson, Kevin Meadows, Brandon Lawson, Donnie Meadows and David Hayes. Honorary Pallbearers will be sons-in-laws, grandsons-in-laws, and Ronnie Lawson, Jr.. Friends may call Saturday evening from 6 - 9 pm at the Hurst Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
