Charlotte Marie Barrett Brown

Charlotte Marie Gilbert Barrett Brown age 74, of Bandy, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Clinch Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Charlotte was born May 25, 1947, in Jewell Ridge, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Bliss and Lillie Boyd Gilbert. She was a department manager at the Magic Mart in Richlands, Virginia for many years before it closed. Charlotte was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved spending time with her family and praying for them. She enjoyed crocheting things for family and friends. Charlotte was a lifetime resident of the area and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Barrett, Jr.; brothers, Alfred Gilbert, Buford Gilbert, John Gilbert, Gene Gilbert; sisters-in-law, Marie Keene, Anna Barrett, Debbie Brown; brothers-in-law, Dennis Keene, James Moran, James Griffith. Those left to cherish her memory and rejoice in her homegoing are: Her loving husband, James Roy “Buck” Brown of Bandy, VA Daughters: Kimberly Keen and husband, Mark of Richlands, VA Tonya Brown and companion, John Growdon of Circleville, OH Son, Charles Barrett, and wife, Jennifer of Richlands, VA Grandchildren: Bruce Jones and wife, Mandie of Breaks, VA Aleishia Berry and husband, Randy of Richlands, VA Mike Angeski and wife, Amber of Ashville, OH Heather Wade and husband, Shawn of Richlands, VA Kelsey Frazier-Sun and husband, Cai of Shenyang, China Emmanuel Barrett and wife, Jaci of Richlands, VA Josh Farrell and Baylee of Circleville, OH Joe Barrett and companion, Catherine Taylor of Melbourne, FL Zack Frazier of Melbourne, FL Cody Keen of Richlands, VA Great-grandchildren: Lauren Berry, Tristian Senter-Jones, Jacob Berry, Bryce Jones, Collin Wade, Sophia Jones, Luke Wade, Sophia Angeski, Sadie Jones, Mikena Angeski, Lilly Farrell, Kameron Barrett, Levi Berry, Kendall Barrett, and Charlotte Berry. Brothers-in-law, Mike Brown and wife Brenda, Curt Brown, Louie Barrett Sisters-in-law, Elsie Barrett, and Betty Moran Uncle, Jimmy Boyd, and wife, Yvonne A host of many family members and friends also survive. The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Muhammad Javed for the care he has shown to her for many years and during her recent illness. Also, to the staff at Clinch Valley Medical Center, especially the ICU Staff who went above and beyond what their job description details to provide her and us with care, love, empathy, and compassion. That amplifies what love should be and it will forever be in our hearts and prayers. They are our “Superheroes.” The funeral service for Charlotte Barrett Brown will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. Interment will follow at the Brown Family Cemetery in Bandy, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday evening beginning at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
