With heavy hearts and thankful souls, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend, Darlene Marie Hale, who went to be with The Lord surrounded by family. Darlene was a woman whose laugh could warm any room, and whose strength carried her family through life’s hardest moments. She was born in Raven, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Leonard A. Lowe and Maxie Dye Lowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie J. Hale; grandson, Xzavier Hale; sister, Debbie McGhee; and a brother, Carl Lowe. Darlene was the kind of woman who made everyone feel welcome, whose door was always open, whose table always had room for one more, and whose love never ran out. Family was everything to her, and she showed it in every small kindness, every hug, and every moment she gave. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort in knowing she is resting peacefully and watching over us with the same faithful love she shared so freely throughout her life. Her memory will remain a blessing, and her spirit will forever live on in the family she held so dear. She leaves behind a family that she cherished with all she had. Her daughter Audrey Keen and son-in-law Brian Keen, her daughter Brooklyn and Weston Hunnell, and her son Christopher Hale and his fiancée Kiera Nicole, will forever hold close the wisdom, warmth, and gentle guidance she poured into their lives. Her special godchildren, Ezekial Hale, and Alex Dobbs, she kept close to her heart. Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren: Kiera Keen, Octavian Hale, Xavier Hunnell, Breonna Hunnell, and Latesha Hunnell, all each carrying forward a piece of her spirit, her kindness, and her unwavering love. She is also survived by her siblings: Nancy White, Ann Broyles, Frances Sparks, Rita Keen, Doffie Lowe, Tim Lowe, and Jerry Lowe. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to all extended family, friends, and the compassionate caregivers at Ultra Helping Hands Hospice, as well as Hurst-Scott Funeral Home for their love, support, and kindness during this difficult time. Funeral services for Darlene Marie Hale will be conducted on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 1 PM at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA with Pastor Charlie Dye officiating. Interment will follow at Ball Family Cemetery on Road Ridge, near Raven, Virginia. Pallbearers will be JJ Lowe, Jamie Lowe, Marcus Combs, Brandon Easter, Jeffrey Johann, Weston Hunell, and Brian Keen. Friends may visit with the family from 11 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
