David Whited

David Alan Whited, age 64, of the Belfast section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Thursday evening, June 28, 2012 at the University of Alabama-Birmingham hospital after a short illness. He was born June 16, 1948 in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late Jim and Louvenia Compton Whited. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Vietnam conflict. He had resided in the Belfast area for 35 years. Having retired from Dominion Coal in 2003, he enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the lake and car shows. He was a member of Harvest Outreach Ministries in Richlands. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one daughter, Amanda Ashley Whited, and one brother, Randy Whited. He is survived by: His wife of 35 years, Alita Whited Daughter, Victoria Alexandra Whited of the home Son, Paul Whited of Richlands, Virginia Five Sisters: Donna Plaster and husband, Dickie of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Judy Miller and husband, Jack of Swords Creek, Virginia Betty Cole and husband, Ern of Tulsa, Oklahoma Karen Webb of Richlands, Virginia Anita Ray of Swords Creek, Virginia One Brother, J. P. Whited and wife, Helen of Winston Salem, North Carolina Two Grandchildren: Kara Whited and Ashlyn Whited Brothers-in-Law and Sisters-in-Law: David and Myrtle Echols, Bill and Dolly Ratliff, Eddie and Elaine Ratliff, Kenneth and Jean Ratliff, Ralph and Edith Ratliff, Gaynelle Thompson, and Loretta Vanover. Several special nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for David Alan Whited will be conducted Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Bob Smith and Rev. John Muncy officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Members of the Casey Shortt VFW Post 9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be: James (Lonzo) Blankenship, Patrick Jackson, Richard Lloyd, Tony Asbury, Dwight Miller and J. Christopher Plaster.
