Edna Reed

Edna Geraldine Reed age79, of Brown Mountain, Virginia was surrounded by her loving family as she drew her first breath in heaven on Friday, February 10, 2012. She was born in Jolo, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Booker and Pearl Wimmer Cooper. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed making beautiful quilts, spending time with her family and reading the Bible. She had read the Bible from end to end many times over. Geraldine worked as a housekeeper for several people over the years and was a fulltime homemaker most of her life. She attended the Chicken Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a life time resident of the area. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents she preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman Willard Reed, and brothers, Charlie, Mearl, Millard and Doil Cooper. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Daughter, Leshia Matney and husband Jeffrey of Abingdon, VA Sons: Willard Leroy Reed and wife Linda of Benson, NC Ronald Leon Reed and wife Joyce of Jewell Ridge, VA Leonard Keith Reed and fiancée Cindy Stiltner of Jewell Ridge, VA Sisters: Agnes Lester of Whitewood, VA Yvonne Keen of Whitewood, VA Josephine Shelton and husband Clarence of Jewell Ridge, VA Patricia Sue Lawson and husband Arthur of Whitewood, VA Brother, Glen Cooper and wife Shelia of Jewell Ridge, VA Sister-in-laws, Betha Cooper of Compton Mountain, VA Anita Cooper of Meadowview, VA Wanda Cooper of Jewell Ridge, VA Grandchildren, Lynn Matney and (Brad), Andrea Penny and (David), Bridget Sauls and (Jason), Christopher Reed and (Savannah), Renee Rasnick, Brian, Matthew and Jeremy Reed. Great-grandchildren, Jordan Osborne, Hailey Brewster, Alyssa and Sydney Reed, Makayla Matney, Abigail Penny, Jeremiah Sauls and Kaitlyn Crum. Special caregivers, Connie and Cindy Stiltner, Bea Blankenship, Betty Owens, Dawn Dye, Elsa Proffitt, Mae Vandyke, Bonnie Keen and the nurses of Total Home Health Care. Funeral services for Edna Geraldine Reed will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Ministers Troy Lester and Monroe Greeley officiating. Interment will follow at the Reed Family Cemetery on Brown Mountain. Grandsons and nephews wills serve as pallbearers.
