Emma "Toots" Cordle

Ms. Emma Frances “Toots” Cordle, age 90, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. She was born in Tazewell County and was the daughter of the late Riley and Hazel Taylor Shelton. She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was the oldest member of the Hillcreek Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Crowder Bernard Kindred; her second husband, Walter Thomas Cordle; Sons, Howard Andrew Kindred and Kenneth Crowder Kindred; Stepchildren, Archie William “Bill” Cordle and Emma Jean Farmer; and Grandchildren, Myron Gerald Cordle and Christina Nicole Cordle; Brothers, Herman Shelton, Ralph Shelton, Ben Alford Shelton, and Riley Shelton, Jr.; Sisters, Margie Stoots, Flossie Joyce, Margaret Shelton, and Maxine Shelton. Survivors are: Daughters: Jeanette Ann Joyce of Richlands, Virginia Hazel Bernice Hamman and husband, Leo of Aho, Arizona Martha Frances Stiltner of Rosedale, Virginia Patricia Faye Gilbert and husband, Wayne of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Brenda Kay Lester and husband, Donnie of Richlands, Virginia Mary Jean Puckett and husband, Rick of Richlands, Virginia Sharon Lynn Blankenship and husband, Andrew of Richlands, Virginia Ruth Dowdy of Richlands, Virginia Sons: Gerald Wayne Cordle and wife, Regina of Richlands, Virginia David Estil Cordle and wife, Linda of Richlands, Virginia Walter Thomas Cordle, Jr. and wife, Joanna Vernon Dean Cordle and wife, Tina of Richlands, Virginia Two Sisters: Beulah Shelton of Richlands, Virginia Charlene Houchins of Cleveland, Ohio Special Sister in Law: Marie Shelton of Pounding Mill, Virginia 27 Grandchildren, 17 Step Grandchildren, 58 Great Grandchildren, 16 Step Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, and 4 Step Great Great Grandchildren also survive. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors also survive. Funeral services for Emma Cordle will be conducted Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Tim Lester, Rev. Frank Lester, Rev. Giles Ball, and Rev. Larry Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Hankins Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Kenny Stiltner, Ricky Stiltner, Donnie Lester, Jr., Patrick Cordle, Robert Gilbert, Thomas Gilbert, Elliot Joyce, Keith Kindred, and Jeremy Cordle. Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Barber, Patrick Barrett, Keith Kindred, Wesley Kindred, T.J. Gilbert, Woody Smith, Tom Joyce, Jr., Eric Weir, Matthew Gibson, Richard Cordle, Billy Cordle, and the Men of the Hillcreek Holiness Church.
