Frank Richard Keene

Frank Richard Keene age 80, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia and he passed away at his home on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Frank was born August 16, 1940 in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late John L. Keene and Agnes White Keene. He was a graduate of the Richlands High School Class of 1958 and worked 42 years for Pittston Coal Company. He had fought the courageous battle against Laryngeal Cancer and Won! Frank loved farming, he was known as the “Tomato Man,” he grew tons of tomatoes and gave them away by the bag full. He liked his fishing trips with his buddies to Emerald Isle, NC. He was an avid Virginia Tech and Richlands Tornado fan and enjoyed watching his sports channels. Frank was an uncomplicated, kind man and found pleasure in the simple things in life. To him, there was no better view than the view from his front porch. He was an adoring father, a devoted grandfather and great grandfather. He was a lifelong resident of the area and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Elaine Keene; sisters, Edna Engold, Mildred Hall; brothers, Elbert Keene, Lloyd Keene, Harold Keene, William Keene. Those that remain to carry on his spirit are his: Daughter, Kim Smith of Abingdon, VA Son, Ritchie Keene and wife, Carolyn of Cedar Bluff, VA Sister, Evelyn Berrier and husband, Chuck of Browns Summitt, NC Brother, Jack Keene and wife, Jeanette of Lebanon, VA Grandchildren: Molly B. Steffey and husband, Ryan of Austinville, VA Katie Smith of Denver, CO Clayton Smith and wife, Autumn of Elk Garden, VA Aaron Keene of Belfast, VA Ian Keene of Belfast, VA Great-grandchildren, Damon Smith, Waylon Smith Several nieces and nephews also survive along with a host of family and friends. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum #4 on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 with the Rev. Terry Hall officiating. Interment will follow the service there at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Hall, Britt Keene, Jeff Keene, Aaron Keene, Ian Keene, Clayton Smith. The family will host a visitation on Wednesday from 11:00 am till time of service at the mausoleum.
