Gail Coreen Sullivan

Gail C. Sullivan age, 69, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at her sister’s home in Richlands, following a lengthy illness. She was born in California and was the daughter of the late Grace Dugger Sullivan and William H. Sullivan, Jr., former Richlands natives. She was a graduate of the Richlands High School Class of 1964, and went on to Wise College to obtain her degree in Education. She was a teacher for the Tazewell County School system for 35 years, teaching at both Cedar Bluff Elementary and Richlands Middle School. Gail was a long standing member of the Richlands Rotary Club and an honored recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition award. She was a recognized Honorary Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The First United Methodist Church of Richlands, the Grace Sunday School Class and a local reading club. Gail was a devoted sister and dearly loved her family. She enjoyed spending her time scrap booking, cross stitching and reading books. She had a very creative spirit and was a wonderful influence on her many students over the years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Sullivan; the love of her life, Bill Neal as well as her best friend, Joyce Vandyke. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her sisters: Sharon Kitts and husband Doug of Richlands, VA Barbara Karen “Cookie” Sullivan of Richlands, VA June Dye and husband, Doug of Richlands, VA Brother, Danny Sullivan and wife Hazel of Red Ash, VA Several nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive her. Funeral services for Gail C. Sullivan will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Betzy Elifrits Warren officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be William Dye, Douglas Dye, Billy Sullivan, Allen Heifner, Jonathan Yates and Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of the First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, April 6, 2015 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
