Gaines Tatum

Mr. Gaines Harry Tatum, age 82, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 05, 2009 at his home. He was born in Steelesburg, Virginia and was the son of the late Ernest G. and Vera Ida Harrison Tatum. He had made his home in the Richlands, Virginia area all of his life and was the former owner and operator of B&G Motors in Richlands, Virginia for over forty years. He was a graduate of Richlands High School and was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran. He was a member of the West Fork Presbyterian Church and was a 50 year member of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF & AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Tatum. Survivors are: His Wife: Virginia Puckett Tatum Two Daughters: Pamela Killen and husband, Ronald of Richlands, Virginia Donna Davis and husband, Adolphus of Pounding Mill, Virginia Two Sisters: Helen Steele of Rosedale, Virginia Jennie Tatum of Steelesburg, Virginia Four Brothers: Cecil G. Tatum of Barboursville, West Virginia McKinley Tatum and wife, Lee of Steelesburg, Virginia Joe Tatum of Pounding Mill, Virginia Doug Tatum and wife, Della G. of Paintlick, Virginia Four Grandchildren: Rochelle Branton, Ursula Spackman, Bryan Killen, and Gaines Davis; and Four Great Grandchildren: Derek Meadows, Brianna Meadows, Bowen Spackman, and Parker Spackman also survive. Funeral services for Gaines Harry Tatum will be conducted Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Dr. Terry Morris officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Randy Tatum, Bob Tatum, Jerry Tatum, Harry Meade, Tim Branton, and Bill Spackman. Friends may call after 6:00pm Friday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. Members of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF & AM will conduct Masonic services at 7:00pm Friday evening. Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites.
