Gladie Janell Cole Elswick

Gladie Janell Cole Elswick, age 84, of Pounding Mill, Virginia, drew her last breath here on this earth Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in Claypool Hill, Virginia following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 23, 1935 in Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the daughter of the late John Hersety Cole and Willard Emiline Nelson Cole. Gladie had dedicated her life to caring for her family, she was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a lifetime resident of the Pounding Mill area for the past 45 years and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Lee Elswick; grandchild, Jamie Lynn Elswick; sisters, Juanita Alva Crawford, Virgie Mae Cole; and brother, Donald Lee Cole. She is survived by: Her Husband, Jack Junior Elswick Daughters: Joanne Emiline Bumgarner and husband, Bill of Richlands, VA Eunice Marie Graham and husband, John of Burkes Garden, VA Elizabeth Jane Elswick of Pounding Mill, VA Sarah Elizabeth Cooke and husband, Jimmie Aaron of Gratton, VA Hannah Jenell Elswick of Morgantown, WV Sister-in-law, Maybell Cole of Bearwallow, VA Brothers: Tom Cole and wife, Ella Jean of Pounding Mill, VA George H. Cole and wife, Nona of Baptist Valley, VA Homer H. Cole and wife, Joan of Bearwallow, VA Grandchildren, Melady Grace Elswick; Josephine Blosser; Harmonie Elswick; Symphony Elswick; Jace Henly Cooke; Rodney D. Whited, II and wife, Melissa; Rosella Whited Rumley and husband, Wesley; John Robert Graham and wife, Elizabeth; Whitney Graham Burke and husband Myles; Nicole Elswick Jessee and husband, Bryon. Seven great grandchildren and a host of family and friends also survive. The funeral service for Gladie Elswick will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Lonnie Perkins and Rev. Paul David Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at the Cole Cemetery on Bearwallow, near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Cody Jewell, Brody Lowe, Wes Rumley; and family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until time of service.
