Gregory Burton

Mr. Gregory Ray Burton, age 57, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Norton, Virginia and was the son of Goldie Herron Burton of Norton, Virginia and the late Wilson "Doc" Burton. He had made his home in the Richlands, Virginia area for the past 35 years and was a sales associate for Radio Shack in Richlands, Virginia. He was retired from Ingersoll Rand and was a U. S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was an avid fan of Richlands High School Athletics and was a Big Blue Supporter for many years. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Tim Burton. Survivors, in addition to his mother, are: His Wife: Myra Gail Burton Son: Jordan Barnett of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Two Step Sons: Philip Lowe and wife, Ketina of Claypool Hill, Virginia Matthew Lowe and wife, Jennifer of Raleigh, North Carolina Five Sisters: Brenda Stallard and husband, Doug of Wise, Virginia Nancy Knudsen of husband, Charles of Coeburn, Virginia Janice Mickles of Wise, Virginia Shelia Burton of Kentucky Robin Hubbard and husband, Wesley of Bristol, Virginia Three Brothers: Terry Burton and wife, Linda of Norton, Virginia Jeff Burton and wife, Betty of Coeburn, Virginia Brian Burton and wife, Helen of Big Stone Gap, Virginia Two Grandchildren: Branson Lowe and Parker Lowe and several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Gregory Ray Burton will be conducted Sunday, May 25, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Buddy Herald officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. The Richlands High School Varsity Baseball Team and Coaching Staff will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Doug Honaker, Chris Null, Randy Sahyouni, Anthony Hayes, Kenneth Barnett, Darrell Keene, Jeff Matney, Velma Conner and employees of the Radio Shack in Richlands, Virginia. Friends may call after 6:00pm Saturday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands.
