Harriet Billings

Harriet Sue Billings, age 65 of Squire, WV died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 30, 1946 at Newhall, WV and was a daughter of Mrs. Thelma Ruth Asbury Young of Squire, WV. Mrs. Billings was a lady who loved her family and friends; she enjoyed cooking for them and when they visited her home, they never left hungry. She enjoyed the peace that came from working in her flower garden and quilting. She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the former Squire Temple Freewill Baptist Church at Squire, WV. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by three nephews, Jackie Billings, Ernie Young, Jr., and Ricky Woods. In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Ellis M. Billings; five children, James Billings and wife, Evelyn of Hampton, VA, Annette Campbell and husband, Hugh of Sandusky, OH, Cindy Carty of Squire, WV, Sara Evans and husband, Doug of Poquoson, VA, and David Billings and wife, Andra of Gretna, VA; three sisters, Margaret Woods of Ashland, VA, Diane Parker and husband, Bruce of Iron Station, NC, and Debbie Asbury and husband, James of Squire, WV; three brothers, Rufus Young and wife, Sue of Tazewell, VA, Charlie Ray Young of Charlotte, NC, and Ernie Young of Squire, WV; seven grandchildren, Joshua Campbell, Andrew Carty, Heather Evans, Ashton Billings, Brandon Evans, Huey Campbell, and Colin Campbell; one great granddaughter, Makayla Grace Carty; special niece, Meshell Billings of War, WV; special nephew, Herb Billings of Yukon, WV; two special friends, Patsy Belcher of Squire, WV and Donna Hardy Watson of Bluefield, WV; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends. Funeral service for Harriet Sue Billings will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Darrell Long officiating. Burial will follow at the Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, WV. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:00 pm noon on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
