Jack "Don" Dean

After 51 years always by each other’s side, only separated by 52 days, Jack Donaldson “Don” Dean completed his “ultimate round” on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 to be back with his loving wife. He was surrounded by his children, looking out at his beloved lake from his home in Dandridge TN. After suffering over 40 years with chronic pain as a result of his mining accident in 1980, he is now pain free, celebrating in Heaven with our sweet Mom. He could always be found spending time mowing his yard, playing golf, and making bets with his friends. He was born in Cliffield, VA, on July 15, 1951 and had an art for always bringing a smile to your face with his awkward acquired sense of humor. Don always worked ridiculously hard to provide for his family. He started his working career at Western Auto, moving on to dedicating 15 years at Consolidated Coal, and finally to owning and managing Wolf Creek Golf and Country Club for 25 years. Don worked hard to achieve his Golf Course Superintendents certifications. The years spent at Wolf Creek shaped our lives for many years where we met many friends, we now consider family. Don was a 1971 Graduate of Tazewell High School. In 2011, Don dedicated his life to serving The Lord, and witnessing in his own unique way to spread the word. Our parents cited Ruth 1:16-17, in their wedding vow and their vow renewal and this echoes throughout their lives. 16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” Don was preceded in death by Cecil Wayne Dean, father and Nadine Rasnick Dean, mother. Also a brother, Wayne Dean. He is survived by two children, son, Jack “JD” Dean and wife, Becky of Lynchburg, VA; daughter, Karen Waldron and husband, Matt of Dandridge, TN; three sisters, Janice Snider and husband, Sam of Pulaski, VA, Diane Justice of Richlands, VA and Lucy Barnett and husband, “Tonk” of Bristol, TN; three brothers, Jeffery “Jeff” Dean of Cliffield, VA, Joseph “Joe-Bill” Dean and wife, Loretta “Tootie” Dean and Terry Dean and wife, Ranetta, both of Adria, VA; sister-in law, Kathy Dean. He loved spending time with his three grandchildren; Alexandria, Tristan, and Damon; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Mr. Dean will be held at the Tazewell Family Worship Center in North Tazewell, VA; Monday, October 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Lawrence Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Pounding Mill, VA. The family will receive friends at the Tazewell Family Worship Center on Sunday October 3, 2021 from 6-9pm.
