James "Jimmy" Otis Clemons

James Otis Clemons, age 61, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, VA. He was born October 1, 1961, in Cleveland, OH, and was the son of the late James Carl Clemons and Margaret Marie Wilson Clemons. “Jimmy” as he was known by many, lived in Tazewell, VA most of his life. He was a graduate of Tazewell High School class of 1979. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served for 8 years. Jimmy worked for Aramark Uniform Rentals in Bluefield, VA, for several years before accepting a position with Stewart Enterprises. There, he worked to a management position and soon became regional manager in the Martinsburg, WV, area. He received many accolades and awards for his work while with that company. He loved classic rock music and attended many concerts throughout the years. He was a West Virginia Mountaineer fan, but a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan! At the beginning of every season, he would say, “This is the year we are going to the Super Bowl,” even if their record wasn’t the greatest. Jimmy was of the Christian faith and he was baptized at the Tazewell Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Zion David Khan. Survivors are: Daughters: Susan Clemons Bowman and husband Cody of Tazewell, VA Laura Marie Clemons and Ryan Hughes of Lake Wylie, SC Anna Clemons Khan and husband Kashif of Bristol, TN Grandsons: Landon Bowman and Benson Bowman of Tazewell, VA Brothers: William Clemons and wife Emma of AR Joseph Clemons and wife Vivian of CA Sisters: Judith Clemons of OH Theresa Clemons of Tazewell, VA Rose Mary Lorion of OH Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and special niece, Carey Clemons Iwouha. Jimmy had a host of friends throughout his life, but none as close as his lifelong friend Mike Sawyers. Jimmy will be missed by many. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11AM at the Tazewell Christian Church, 302 E. Pine Street, Tazewell, Virginia, with Pastor Nathan Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10AM until the hour of the service. In keeping with Jimmy’s wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jimmy may do so by donating to their favorite organization.
