Jimmie Crouse

Jimmie Allen Crouse, age 74 of Marion, VA, formerly of Cedar Bluff, VA died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Smyth County Hospital in Marion, VA. Born October 18, 1934 at Bishop, VA he was a son of the late Lindsay Gray “Slick” and Ruth Ann Shrader Crouse. He was employed as a Quality Control Inspector with the Brunswick Corporation in Marion, VA and was a former employee of the S & S Corporation at Claypool Hill, VA and Titan Wheel in Saltville, VA. Mr. Crouse was a United States Army Veteran, and was a member of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge. He was also an honorary member of the Tazewell County Horseman’s Club. Although Jim did not attend Church, he had his beliefs and loved listening to gospel music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude D. Crouse, William Gary Crouse, and Willard Merle Crouse. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Harrison Crouse; three children, Jeff D. Crouse and wife, Kathy of Cedar Bluff, VA, Priscilla Wise and husband, Charles of Abingdon, MD, and Curtis Allen Crouse of Delaware; one sister, Judith G. Crouse of Bedford County, VA; one brother-in-law, Roy A. Harrison and wife, Betty of Mt. Airy, NC; one sister-in-law, Norma Jean Crouse of Bishop, VA; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Jimmy Shannon of Baptist Valley, VA; special pet, Jasmine; many friends of the Mt. Rogers Health District Offices and the Smyth County Health Department; many other loving family members and friends. Funeral services for Jimmie Allen Crouse will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Rev. Jess Crouse officiating. Burial will follow at the Harrison Family Cemetery on Earl’s Branch Road at Cliffield, VA. Pallbearers will be Jamie Shannon, Matthew Shannon, Thomas Darin Neel, William Robert Crouse, Mike Asbury, and Ronnie Asbury. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Richardson, Ray Asbury, Tommy Asbury, Ron Dalton, Cliff Hughes, Tom Eddy, Jim Shannon, and Mack Myers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009.
