Joseph Wade Bohon

Joseph Wade Bohon, 66, of Greeneville, TN entered God's Kingdom on January 18, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Joseph was born on October 24,1958 in Oakwood, VA to the late Charles Dewain Bohon and Anna Laura Bohon. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Known for his kindness and wit, Joe was a friend to all, ready to crack a joke or listen, always finding a way to make the people around him smile. Joe was a coal miner before moving to Greeneville, TN, where he then worked at Tusculum University as a maintenance supervisor for over 15 years. He was also a talented carpenter and woodworker, often making beautiful heirloom gifts for his family out of wood. A member of the Class of 1977 at Garden High School, Joe was a runner, played tennis, basketball, and football. He was a lifelong fan of football and an ardent supporter of the UT Volunteers. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Chuck and Ann Bohon, his brother Charles (Buzz) Bohon Jr, and sister-in-law Genny D. Bohon. Joe is survived by his wife Patricia Bohon; daughters, Jessika Bohon of Hoboken, NJ and Ashley Smith and husband Tanner of Gate City, VA; son, John William Dustin Bohon of Bristol, TN; grandson, River Smith of Gate City, VA; sisters, Harty Loria and husband Mark of Rochester, NY and Jennilyn Quillen and husband Mike of Blountville, TN; brother, Paul Bohon of Abingdon, VA; nieces and nephews, Anna Loria, Mark Loria, Charles "Chucky" Bohon III, Reese Bohon, Luke Bohon, Haley Bohon, Heather Baldwin, Brandy Baldwin, Nikki Baldwin; great nephews, Braedyn Michael Wayne Baldwin, Kyle Ratliff, Landon Baldwin,and Jacob Price; great nieces, Brenley Bohon and Harmony Price; and special friends Dave Charon and Dave Watts. A special thank you to the ICU nurses at Holston Valley Medical Center - Abby, Taylor, Melissa, Janice, Sydney, Brittany, Darian, Carissa, Angie, Taylor, April, Aubrey, Julia, Oliva, Chloe, Alexis, Mckenna, Logan, Heather, and Kenzie - and to Dr. Lucinda Miller and Dr.Jennifer Phemister, for their exceptional care of Joe. Funeral services for Joseph Wade Bohon will be conducted Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Dave Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Dave Charon, Charles “Chucky” Bohon III, Jonathan Lowe, Tim Owens, Reese Bohon, and Mark Loria. The Bohon family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Thursday prior to the funeral.
