Kenneth Ray Mitchell

Kenneth Ray Mitchell, age 79, of Jewell Ridge, VA, passed away at his home on January 19, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1945 in Jewell Ridge, VA, to his late father, Drannon Wyatt and his wife, Ethel; and his late mother, Nina Ora Pearl Meadows and her husband, Oliver. Kenneth was a retired coal miner from Pittston Coal Company. He was the former owner and operator of Mitchell’s Garden Market in Cedar Bluff, VA. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, and a Richlands High School Graduate. He was a lifelong resident of the Jewell Ridge, Virginia area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Freda Meadows; a special aunt, Hazel Mitchell; and a great-grandson, Finnegan Lee Ball. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Family Cemetery on Stinson Ridge, near Jewell Ridge, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Friends may visit with the family from 5pm until the time of service. Members of the UMWA Chaplin Corps will conduct a memorial service.
