Linda Vandyke

Ms. Linda Lou Vandyke, age 57 of Rural Retreat, VA fought a vigilant battle with cancer before going to her heavenly home Thursday, April 28, 2011 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 26, 1953 in Buchanan County, VA and was the daughter of the late Kermit Presley and Nellie Faye Meadows Presley. Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She attended Tazewell High School and was a lady who enjoyed finding treasures at yard sales and working in her flower garden. She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Macedonian Church of Christ. She dedicated many years to helping the Girl Scouts and to several cheerleading squads in her area. Linda was a mama to many children, she was loved by all who knew her and will truly be missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Presley and Harold Presley; one sister, Annette Rose. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her daughters, Leona Stiltner and husband, Randy of Abingdon, VA and Hazel Vandyke of Rural Retreat, VA; Fiancé, Franklin J. Hughes of Rural Retreat, VA; two sisters, Mary Violet Badoskey of Richlands, VA and Macey Fuller of Roseville, MI; five brothers, David Presely of Key West, FL, Andrew Presley of Davenport, VA, Arnold Presley and Jack Presley, both of Speedwell, VA and Eisenhower “Ike” Presley of Cedar Bluff, VA; Mama’s three little angels and the joy of her life, Kathleen Ann Stiltner, Amanda Grace Stiltner, and Katelyn Ashley Fletcher; special loved ones, Rhonda, Anthony, Mark, Megan, Austin, and Jason Wade, David and Roberta Hughes, Ronnie Hughes, and Robin Jane Stacey. The family will receive friends at the Stevens Funeral Home in Pulaski, VA after 6:00 pm Monday, May 2, 2011 where a funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm with Evangelist Ronnie Musick and Pastor Michael Stidham officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Thorns Springs Cemetery in Pulaski, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Macedonian Church of Christ. The family will receive friends locally at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA from 6 – 9 pm, Sunday, May 1, 2011 where funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 pm with the Evangelist Ronnie Musick and Michael Stidham officiating.
