Lois Phipps

Mrs. Lois Gaynell Childress Phipps, age 64, of 316 North St. Richlands, Virginia, died Friday, March 25th, 2005 at a Bristol, Tennessee hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Buchanan County, Virginia and was a daughter of Mrs. Nora Olma McKenney Childress and the late Russell Elmer Childress. She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area, was a 1958 Richlands High School graduate and a retired bookkeeper with Ruby Cyphers Bookkeeping. She was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Richlands. Survivors in addition to her mother are: Her Husband: Mr. Elzie Phipps Three Daughters: Deborah Stevenson of Abingdon, Virginia Ruby Darlene Lawson and husband, Terry of Big Stone Gap, Virginia Stephanie McKinney Wood and husband, Greg of Bluefield, Virginia One Son, William R. Stevenson and wife, Tanya of North Tazewell, Virginia Step-Children: Rosanna Sellers and husband, Walter of Newport Richie, Florida Vonda Strouth of Clintwood, Virginia Randall Phipps and wife, Margaret of Clintwood, Virginia Rebecca Phipps and husband, Kevin Deasy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Brothers: Donald Childress of Tazewell, Virginia James Russell Childress and wife, Shirley of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Jerry Marvin Childress and wife, Alice of Rustburg, Virginia Eight Grandchildren:Ryan Blake Stevenson, Rachel Marie Stevenson, Zachary Russell Wood, Sarah Ashley Stevenson, Nora Katherine Wood, Colter Wayne Wood, Heather Renee Lawson, and Kaycee Leann Lawson.. Eight Step Grandchildren and Four Step Great Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Gaynell Childress Phipps will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Jim Denton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Brian Childress, Terry Lawson, Ryan Blake Stevenson, Randall Phipps, Jim Childress, Jerry Childress, Don Childress, and Greg Wood. Honorary Pallbearers: Zachary Russell Wood Colter Wayne Wood, James Russell Childress, Jr., and Gregory Nathaniel Childress.
