Margaret K Grose

Margaret K. Grose, age 95 of Newhall, West Virginia, passed awayon December 19, 2025 in a Tazewell, Virginia nursing home, following a lengthy illness. Margaret was born in Centerville, West Virginia, on January 31, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Kolesar and Helen Fodor Kolesar, Hungarian immigrants who moved here to find a better life. She and her family endured many hardships; they lived off the land and worked hard to provide for themselves. Margaret was determined to get an education, which meant walking a long distance to the school. Still, that determination kept her going until she graduated from Big Creek High School and then began working as a cook for a logging crew. She later met and married Frank, and they built a good life together. For 15 years, she worked as the dispatcher for the Big Creek Fire and Rescue. She was the voice that called everyone out to help others. Margaret had a heart for God; she was a sweet soul who loved everyone and would always lend a helping hand. She loved to sew and quilt and always had a stack of alterations she was working on for others. In quilting, she felt like she could weave her and God's love into each stitch, so when the quilt covered that person, they would feel the comforting love settle over them. Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and she will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank H. Grose; sisters, Elizabeth Saunders, Erma Watson, Helen Conorman, and Eva Kolesar; and brothers, Steve Kolesar, George Kolesar, Jacob Kolesar, Joe Kolesar, and Moses Kolesar. Those who remain to carry on her loving spirit are Her sons: Darwin Grose and his wife, Elizabeth of Welch, WV Jeffrey Grose of Newhall, WV Grandchildren, Derek Grose, Keith Grose, Misty D. Fowora, Deirdre Collins, Darren Wylde, Clifford Wylde, Eric Wylde, Christian Wylde. Special Great-grandchild, Bryana Reckeweg, and several other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survived her. The funeral service for Margaret K. Grose will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the New Beginnings Church in War, West Virginia, with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the War Community Cemetery in War, WV. Pallbearers will be Josh Horn, Trevor Grose, Bruce Wagoner, Mikie Holsclaw, and Jimmy Mitchell.
