Mary Marrs

Mary Elswick Marrs, age 83 formerly of the Cove Section of Tazewell, VA passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the home of her daughter in North Tazewell, VA. She was born at Tazewell County VA and was a daughter of the late John Henry and Nannie Ellen Patrick Elswick. She had made her home in the Cove section of Tazewell her entire life before making her home with her daughter Trena for the past few years. She was retired from the Tazewell County School system. She attended Pisgah United Methodist Church. She was the widow of William Henry Marrs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Hall, Brothers, Stewart "Pood" Elswick, William"Bill" Elswick, and James "Slim" Elswick. Survivors Include: Daughter, Trena Marrs of North Tazewell, VA Son, Arthur "Red" Marrs and wife Brenda of the Cove section of Tazewell, VA Sister, Louise Brown of Tazewell, VA Brothers, Robert "Bob" Elswick of North Tazewell, VA, Roy Elswick of Tazewell, VA, Walter "Brownie" Elswick of Tazewell, VA and Archie Lee Elswick of North Tazewell, VA Grandchildren, Toni Hatfield and Tommy Marrs Great Grandchildren, Amanda and Bobby Hatfield Many nieces and nephews A friend that she thought of as a daughter, Marcie Gilmer of Bluefield, VA Her #2 son, Jack Murray of Tazewell, VA Special Caregivers, Winona Patrick, Janice Stacey and Charlotte Surratt Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel of Tazewell, VA with Rev. Kenneth Gillespie officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be, Tommy Brown, Roger Brown, Larry Brown, Chris Alley, Scott Cole and Mike Ford. Honorary pallbearers are, Debbie Cecil, Claire Barrett, Juanita Chapman, Marcie Gilmer, Nona Patrick, Charlotte Surratt, Janice Stacey, Jack Murray and Mathew Elswick. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 9 pm.
