Ollie Kennedy

Ollie Lee Kennedy of Wardell, Virginia drew her last breath on Tuesday, August the 10th, the day before her 92nd birthday. But, oh what a wonderful birthday gift she received to pass through the heavenly gates and into the arms of Jesus. Ollie was born August 11, 1929, in Buchanan County and was the daughter of the late Jennings Lee and Alice Fields Lee. She worked as a sales clerk for several local retailers and was well known as the shoe lady in the shoe department at Magic Mart. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Oh how she loved going to church, she had attended the Open Door Community Church in Baptist Valley for many years. She loved to socialize and meet new people. Ollie would tell you she especially loved to eat Stephanie's spaghetti and loved to pick on her son-in-law, Charlie, even smacking him with her cane at times. Ollie enjoyed going for walks and looking at the flowers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and had lived most of her life in the local area. In addition to greeting her parents in heaven, she was reunited with her loving husband, Samuel C. Kennedy; her daughter, Shirley Mae Keene, and several sisters and brothers. Those that remain to carry on her kind and loving spirit are hr; Children: Connie McGlothlin and husband, Charlie of Doran, VA Susan Kennedy of Cedar Bluff, VA Marcella Kennedy of Wise, VA Freddie Kennedy and wife, Rhonda of Wardell, VA Jennifer Lynn Kennedy of Doran, VA Also surviving her are 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Ollie L. Kennedy will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Charlie McGlothlin officiating. Interment will be on Monday at noon at the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Josh Kennedy, Adam Horn, Randy Mullins, Cade Mullins, Steven Mullins, John Kennedy, and Danny Stinson.
