Paul Freddie Blankenship

Paul Freddie Blankenship, age 65, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. He was born in Buchanan County and was the son of the late Acie David Blankenship and Tinie Harman Blankenship. He lived in the Tazewell County area most of his life. As a young man he started working for the forestry where he loved the outdoors. Later on, following in his dad’s and brothers footsteps, he became a coal miner. His mining career ended when he became disabled from a mining accident. He loved doing woodwork in his workshop and hunting and fishing and playing his guitar. He was a loving husband, father, and brother. His favorite past time was spending precious time with his wife and children whom he loved with all his heart. He looked forward to and loved family reunions and Christmas to be with family. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his brother, Jimmy Blankenship; sister in law, Barbara England Blankenship; brothers-in-law, Rev. Clyde Rose and Rev. Eddie Baldwin; father and mother in law, Lawrence and Lena Stinson; and sister and brother in law, Donna and Randolph Combs. Survivors are: His Wife of 43 years: Angie Stinson Blankenship Son: Shawn Blankenship Daughter: Haley Blankenship Sisters: Wanda Rose of Honaker, Virginia Carol Robinson and husband, Ned of Swords Creek, Virginia Phyllis Keen and husband, Jerry of Clifton Fork, Virginia Darline Justice and husband, Ray of Lebanon, Virginia Anita Baldwin of Richlands, Virginia Vivian Shelar and husband, Jerry of Honaker, Virginia Brothers: David Blankenship of Wytheville, Virginia Frank Blankenship of Abingdon, Virginia Virgil Blankenship and wife, Dinah of Pounding Mill, Virginia Homer Blankenship of Clifton Fork, Virginia Aunt: Betty Harman and Several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Paul Freddie Blankenship will be conducted Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 1pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Gary Keen and Rev. Aaron Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Ferrell Cemetery on Horn Mountain near Whitewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Ray Justice, Wes Keen, Stephen Robinson, Jerry Keen, Justin Baldwin, Homer Blankenship, Benjamin Keen, and Bryan Keen. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Second Floor Nurses and Staff of ICU at Clinch Valley Medical Center and Dr. Ramesh Kabaria. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11am until 1pm on Saturday prior to the funeral.
