At the age of 82, he passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2026, with his wife by his side. Paul began his journey in Washington D.C., he was born there on April 17, 1937, and he was the son of the late Carol John Giuliana and Rosina Ceccarelli Giuliana. He had an early sense of duty that led him to the U.S. Army. That foundation of service never truly left him, but it eventually took a different, more contemplative form. For over 20 years, Paul lived and served at the Holy Cross Monastery in Berryville. Many knew him there as a man of faith, but just as many knew him as an artist of the oven. Whether it was the specialized honey, the famous candies, or the bread that sustained the community, Paul put his heart into everything he baked. He understood that simple things—done well and with love—could be a form of prayer. It was there, amidst the quiet of the monastery gift shop, that life gave Paul a wonderful surprise. He met Della. What began as a friendship between two people working toward a common goal blossomed into a deep, enduring love. After retiring from his monastic life, Paul didn't just retire from the world; he stepped into a new chapter as a husband and a protector, serving for many years as a security guard for Securitas. Paul was a man of steady faith, a familiar face at St. Theresa’s, and a friend to many. He was a man who knew the value of a hard day's work and the peace of a quiet home. Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Della Sarver, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. Per Paul's request, he was cremated, and the military will bury him at sea with the honors of the country he served.
