Pearl Sanders

Ms. Pearl S. Dailey Sanders, age 100 years and 6 months , of Lebanon, Virginia passed away Sunday, November 25, 2007 at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Seaboard, Virginia on Jewell Ridge the daughter of the late I.W., and Cara Ferrell Dailey, former Jewell Ridge natives. She was a lifelong resident of the area and had attended the Community Heights Baptist Church at Wardell and was a member of the Seniors Circle of Lebanon. Pearl was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was well known for her kind and gentle spirit. Taking life in an easy manner was her style, and she spent her time reading, crocheting and spending time with her family. In the last 100 years, she has witnessed many spectacular events and saw the world change in a variety of ways that we could only imagine. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and she will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Calvin Sanders, her sister, Lily Lawson and five brothers, Albert "Bo", Henry, Otis, Jim and Oscar Dailey. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her daughter: Helen Marie Messer and husband Preston of Lebanon, Virginia Her Nephews: Oscar "Jun" Dailey of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Wade Ferrell of Steelesburg, Virginia Granddaughters: Gerry Messer Carter and husband Terry of Lebanon, Virginia Deborah Messer Blankenship and husband Dave of Holden Beach, Virginia Great-grandchildren: Jolie C. Francis and husband Richie of Dungaree, Virginia David Adam Blankenship of Holden Beach, Virginia Special Friends, Azilee Carter, Sandra Cox and Brenda Willis also survive her along with a host of friends. Funeral services for Pearl S. Sanders will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Delmar Somoskey officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills, Memory Gardens Cemetery in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Terry Carter, Dave Blankenship, Richie Francis, Adam Blankenship, Bill White and Larry Cole. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 ? 9 pm at the Hurst- Scott Funeral Home.
