Phillip Gregory

Phillip J. Gregory, age 49 of Fuquay-Varina, NC formerly of Richlands, VA died Friday, November 19, 2010 at his home. He was born July 8, 1961 at Bucyrus, OH and was the son of the late Phillip Randolph Gregory and Willetta Whited Gregory. Phillip was a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family at the differing beaches and water parks. Phillip was a former resident of Richlands, VA where he served in the Virginia National Guard, Company D 276th Engineer Battalion at Richlands from 1986 â?? 1988 and continued to be in the Individual Ready Reserves through 1993. He later moved to Wake County, NC and was currently employed as a maintenance supervisor with Camden Living in Morrisville, NC. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Leemon Curtis Gregory and Harriett Edna Ramey Gregory; maternal grandparents, Herbert Paul Whited and Gracie Viola Plaster Whited; one nephew, Matthew Jason Evans. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Michelle Gregory and their daughter, Aurora Marie Gregory of the home; daughter, Mollie Gregory Deakyne and husband, Robert Deakyne, II of Lebanon, VA; step sons, Michael Sewert of Wilmington, NC and George Sewert of the home; grandchildren, Cheyanne, William and Rebecca Jane Deakyne of Lebanon, VA; a special step-son, Gerald Tuggle of North Carolina; three sisters, Brenda Gregory Evans and Ranetta Gregory Davis and husband, Billy all of Swords Creek, VA and Paula Gregory Slate and fiancÃ©, Philip Shaw of Richlands, VA; nieces, Mikayra Dye and Destiny Slate; nephews, Mike and Nick Delaney; a host of other family members and many friends. Funeral services for Phillip J. Gregory will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Larry Brooks and the Rev. Daniel Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA. Pallbearers will be Â Mike Delaney, Nick Delaney, Gary Lee Gregory, Jr., Josh Mabe, Mike Martin, Mike Mayo and Ricky Marvolla. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 in Tazewell, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 â?? 9 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010.
