Rita Horn Cole, your love of life was evident in all you did, your energy was unmatched, your wit, drive, and determination had no equal. Your spirit will always live inside of us and your memory projected in the things we see. You bore your battle with ovarian cancer with dignity and grace, daily living in the will of God. On Sunday, March 6, 2016 your courageous battle ended and you received a new glorified body in heaven. Rita was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of Ralph and Ruby Kelly Horn of Whitewood, Virginia. She was a graduate of the 1979 class of Lyons Township High School of LaGrange, Illinois. She was a real estate agent and the owner of the Best Buy Properties. She had attended Community Heights Baptist Church, was a member of the Richlands Kiwanis Club and was always involved with the Special Olympics. Rita had lived most of her life in the Claypool Hill area. Those who remain to keep her spirit alive are: Her loving husband of 34 years, Claude “Dick” Cole of Pounding Mill, VA Her son, Brandon Cole of Pounding Mill, VA Her daughter, Courtney Kimbrell and husband Ben of Mooresville, NC Several sister and brother in laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and host of family and friends. The family wants to extend their special thanks to Dr. Forest Swan and to her niece Shelia Maxwell. The funeral service for Rita Horn Cole will be conducted at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be William Quick, Brian Huffman, Barry Huffman, Chip Quick, Dale Coleman, Daniel Kelly, Matt Pereira and Josh Keene. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dave Woodall, Robert Clem, Gary Ratcliff, Brian Colbert, Curt Brown, Raleigh Worley and Randy Keene. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00pm.
