Ronald Bales

Mr. Ronald Lee Bales, age 67, of Richlands, VA, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Lebanon, Virginia following a brief illness. He was born in Raven, Virginia and was the son of the late John B. and Lila Marie Reedy Bales. He was a Class of 1963 graduate of Richlands High School with four years of college. He was a U. S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was a truck driver for Wise Recycling in Bristol, Virginia. He was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was of the Protestant faith. Ronnie was a very loving and devoted father. His two wonderful children were his pride and joy and his purpose in life. He loved sports and coached little league and pee wee football, baseball, and basketball in his earlier years. He was caring and loved his friends and co-workers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John F. and Alta B. Hurt Bales; his maternal grandparents, Virgil and Beatrice Burress Reedy; and two sisters, Ruth Ann Whitt and Nancy Carol Bales. He is survived by: His Wife, Judy Ball Bales of Richlands, VA One Daughter, Amber Ashlee Bales of Roanoke, VA One Son, Brandon Lee Bales of Santa Marie, CA Sister, Mary Mulkey and husband, Nelson of Tazewell, VA Brothers: Balford Bales, Jr. “Jay” and wife, Roberta of Cedar Bluff, VA Dan E. Bales of Raven, VA George Gerald (Abe) Bales of Pounding Mill, VA Paul S. Bales of Jonesville, VA Johnny Bales and wife, Rebecca of Weston, WV Funeral services for Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Bales will be conducted Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Jared Horn officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Stilwell, Timothy Groves, Mark Whitt, Gregory Mulkey, Marvin Houchins, and Brian Bales. Honorary Pallbearers will be Co-workers and friends of Wise Recycling of Bristol, VA. Friends may call from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Monday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
