Sallie White

Mrs. Sallie C. Dunn White, age 95, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, died Saturday, October 28th, 2006 at the home of her son, Ralph White of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Tease, Virginia and was a daughter of the late General George Wyatt Dunn and Martha Lou Ellen Barker Dunn, both North Carolina natives. She was a devout Christian of the Pentecostal Holiness faith, loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She spent her entire adult life as a homemaker and one of her greatest joys was preparation of large family meals especially during the holidays. She was a very generous and kind lady. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Columbus C. ?Lum? White, one infant daughter, Diana Lynn White, one grandson, John Jay ?Petey? Flanner, seven sisters, and one infant brother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Larry Mitchell, Dr. Brian Cortilessi, Dr. Joseph Claustro, Home Nursing Company, nurses and aides especially Terri Dye, Vitacare, Community Home Care Services, Clinch Valley Medical Center Nursing Staff and special thanks to Sharon Musick, Nursing Manager, and Emergency Room Staff, Ralph Dales and Scotties Drug Store. Survivors are: Two Sons: Mr. John Jay Flanner of Wardell, Virginia Mr. Ralph Woodrow White and wife, Ruth Jayne of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Three Daughters: Mrs. Nona Gay Buskill of the home Mrs. Shirley Ann Carter and husband, Lee of Fort Worth, Texas Mrs. Angela McCrory and husband, Ernie of Dallas, Texas Ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren also survive. A celebration of life for Mrs. Sallie C. Dunn White will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Troy Lester and Rev. Jack Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Larry Flanner, Gary Flanner, Kevin Flanner, David Buskill, Kenneth Matney, and Gabe Hicks.
