Sam F. White Jr.

Sam F. White, Jr., age 65 of North Tazewell, VA passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was born January 29, 1948 at Bishop, VA and was the biological son of the late Sam F. White, Sr. and Ethel Britt White. He was the son of the late Howard and Sue Brewster who raised him as their own. Sam was a 1967 Graduate of Tazewell High School and was a retired equipment repair supervisor with the Tazewell Office of the Virginia Department of Transportation. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, who were his pride and joy. Sam was an avid sportsman, always cheering on the Tazewell Bulldog Football Team and watching his beloved Cincinnati Reds. Mr. White was a member of Bundy’s Chapel Baptist Church in Witten’s Valley, VA, where he served as Deacon and sang in the choir. Sam overcame many obstacles in his life and worked hard for his family. He was a great example of a Christian husband, father, and servant. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Boardwine and Marsha Muncy; one brother, Henry White. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-five years, Nancy Carol Kinder White; two sons, Christopher H. “Chris” White and wife, Jennifer of Tazewell, VA and James Robert “Jimmy” White of the home; two grandsons, Adam Christopher White and Nicholas Gage White, both of Tazewell, VA; two sisters, Patsy Hockett and husband, Dennis of Ohio City, Ohio and Phyllis Thatcher and husband, Bob of Rockford, OH; one brother, Dale Robert White and wife, Tonnya; father and mother – in – law, Herbert and Virginia Kinder of Tazewell, VA; two brothers-in-law, Michael Kinder and David Kinder and wife, Anita both of North Tazewell, VA; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services for Sam F. White, Jr. will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with his son, Rev. Chris White officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be Adam White, Nick White, Jimmy White, Mike Kinder, David Kinder, and Matthew Kinder. Honorary pallbearers will be Vic Hall and Hugh Puckett, Sr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
