Sharon Wicks

Mrs. Sharon Diane Wicks, age 56, of Doran, Virginia, died Friday, December 30th, 2005 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Dye, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Stanley "Bud" and Cora Ellen Plaster Saunders. She made her home in the Russell County area several years before moving to Doran ten years ago and was a member of the Ivy Springs Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and served in the Honaker High School Cafeteria. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Saunders and one sister, Alice Faye Shelton. Survivors are: Her Husband of 37 years, Mr. Alfred "Smiley" Wicks Son, Mr. Alfred Jr. Wicks and wife, Tanya of Claypool Hill, Virginia Daughter, Mrs. Patricia Diane Harman of Swords Creek, Virginia Three Sisters: Gwen Price of Honaker, Virginia Debbie Horn of Garden Creek, Virginia Sandy Osborne of the Horton Ridge section of Raven, Virginia Four Brothers: Frazier Saunders of North Carolina Steve Saunders of Richlands, Virginia David Saunders of Doran, Virginia Ricky Saunders of Swords Creek, Virginia Five Grandchildren: Shane and Kiera Wicks of Claypool Hill, Virginia, Cora, Casey, and Evan Harman of Swords Creek, Virginia. Many nieces, nephews, and a special friend of the family, Brian White of Maple Gap. Funeral services for Mrs. Sharon Diane Wicks will be conducted Sunday, January 1st, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Buddy Herald and Rev. Grady McGlothlin officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Brian White, Chris Goodman, Jeremy Saunders, Charles Osborne, Edgar Wicks, E. J. Wicks, Michael Saunders, David Lee, and Chris Price.
