Teddy Lloyd

Teddy Lloyd, age 56 of Pounding Mill, VA died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital. He was born October 4, 1955 in Grundy, VA and was a son of the late George Robert and Minnie Belcher Lloyd. Teddy attended Grundy High School and was a member of the Class of 1974. Mr. Lloyd was a retired coalminer, having worked for many years with Harman Mining Company and was a member of the UMWA Local #7025. He enjoyed model cars and woodworking; watching Jeopardy and Westerns. He was an avid NASCAR and Bill Elliot fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother; he was the happiest being with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Joe, James, and Dallas Lloyd; one sister, Nancy Lavelle; one nephew, Joseph Vencill. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Melinda Combs Lloyd; two daughters, Michelle Lloyd of Taylorsville, NC and Amanda Edwards and husband, Dustin of Richlands, VA; two sons, Michael Lloyd of Bland, VA and Robert McAllister of Cedar Bluff, VA; three sisters, Edna “Bonnie” Lloyd of Pounding Mill, VA, Anna Rae Blankenship and husband, Freeman, and Kimberly Hoover all of Hiddenite, NC; three brothers, Trivett Lloyd and wife, Mari of Fayetteville, NC, Ricky Lloyd and wife, Debbie and Johnny Lloyd and wife, Connie, all of Pounding Mill, VA; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters - in - law; several nieces and nephews, and three special dogs, Bear, Brutus, and Ernie. Funeral services for Teddy Lloyd will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Preacher Michael Rife officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Ricky Lloyd, Johnny Lloyd, Robert McAllister, McCoy Combs, Dennie Combs and Frankie Combs. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012.
