Ulysses "Boss Hog" Altizer,

Ulysses Rhea “Boss Hog” Altizer, Sr., age 64 of Bluefield, WV, formerly of Squire, WV went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 23, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 14, 1946 at Canebrake, WV and was the son of Wilma Neeley Altizer of Bluefield, WV and the late Ulysses Grant Altizer. He was a 1965 graduate of Pineville High School at Pineville, WV and was a disabled coal miner and mine foreman, having worked at Bishop and Amonate for Consolidated Coal. Mr. Altizer was of the Christian faith and was liked by all the people he worked with. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, James “Bubba” Altizer; father-in-law, Ambrose Brewster; brother-in-law, Michael Brewster; several uncles and aunts. In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Tammy Brewster Altizer; his loving son and daughter-in-law, Ulysses Rhea Altizer, Jr. and his wife, Mary of North Tazewell, VA; loving daughter-in-law, Tanya Altizer of Bluefield, VA; three grandchildren, James Grant “Mooser” Altizer and wife, Sabrina of Converse, TX, Ashley Altizer Graham, and husband, Shannon of North Tazewell, VA and Courtney Altizer of Bluefield, VA; great-grandson, Austin Graham and a great-granddaughter due in December; his faithful companions, pets: Oliver, Chloe and Roxie; mother-in-law, Frieda Brewster of Newhall, WV; sisters-in-law, Darlene Williamson and husband, Mike and Yvonne Brewster, all of Florida; brother-in-law, David Brewster and wife, Leah of South Carolina; aunts, Gladys Asbury of Maryland and Della Hammond and husband, Judd of North Carolina; uncle, Albert Neeley and wife, Helen of Florida; nephews, Eric Williamson, Michael Scott Brewster, Jack Brewster and Ryan Brewster; nieces, Krystal Kikta and husband, Austin, Tanya Williamson and Lauren Brewster; great nieces, Jaida and Amari; great nephews, Aidan and Jacob; special caregiver, Dee Reece and special nurses from Hospice Compasses. Graveside funeral services for Ulysses Rhea “Boss Hog” Altizer, Sr. will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA, with Pastor Roger Hicks and Pastor Eddie Johnson officiating. Officers of the Bluefield, VA Police Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.
