Vella Kathleen Sparks

Vella Kathleen Sparks, age 85 of Baptist Valley, VA went to be with the Lord on August 10th, 2016 She was born on January 27th, 1931 in Endwell, West Virginia to the late Earby and Rosa Rose. Vella was a homemaker and had dedicated her life to her family, being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt brought her great joy. Vella, opened her heart and home to other children and was a mother and grandmother to all of them. She loved playing the piano and singing, and was of The Assembly of God belief. Vella was known as a woman of faith, she always put her faith in God and encourages others to do the same. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving Husband of 37 wonderful years Rex Eugene Sparks; son, Curtis Lee Puckett; grandson, Zachary Sparks; sisters, Pearl Beavers, Jenny Penix, Frances Sturgell; brothers, Jess Rose, Wiley Rose. She is survived by: Her daughter, Vela Ann Chandler and Husband Casey of Huntersville, NC Sons: Rex Allen Sparks and wife Goldie of Cedar Bluff, VA Douglas Odell Puckett of TN Sister, Cora Lawson of Crystal River, FL Grandchildren, Cody Sparks, Ryan Chandler, Kane Chandler, Mathew Puckett, Michelle Owens, Christina Bowman, Lauren Flores, Dillon Flores, Maggie Cremeans. Great grandchildren, Nicole Owens, Bayli Flores, Aksel Flores. Several nieces and nephews and a host of family also survive. Her grandson, Cody moved in with his grandmother so she would not have to leave her home, and when Vella came to the point of needing more help, her daughter in law Goldie gave up her home to move in and dedicated her life to caring for Vella. These two special people made life more special for Vella on a daily basis. The funeral service for Vella Kathleen Sparks will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel with the Minister’s Mark Hinson and Curtis Shrader officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens. Robert Dooley, Danny Sparks, Worley Whitt, David Beavers, Charlie Price, and Bobby Alicie will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin to receive friends at 6:00 pm on Friday evening.
